Customer Focused And Obsessed With Quality
My mission at Tacoma Sharpening is simple: to provide high-quality sharpening services for people in my community. I do this because I find it a pleasure to use correctly maintained and sharp tools, whether that be cooking, crafting, woodworking, or gardening. Knowing that I have restored some pride of ownership and use to my clients is honestly the most rewarding part of this work.
At this time I exclusively use guided angle hand sharpening methods. This helps ensure that minimal material is removed while at the same time giving you a precise, strong, and super sharp edge.
KITCHEN KNIFE SHARPENING
Perfect Working Edge
Kitchen knives are best sharpened so they have a "bite" to them as well as sharpness. My process involves putting scratch marks (tiny teeth) on the knife's edge, then polishing those "teeth" so the knife is shaving sharp but will still bite into the skin of a tomato.
As Good As Or Better Than New
Scissors provide special challenges and require special equipment. I can restore the edge on your sewing, or industrial scissors, often making it sharper than it came from the factory. Service includes disassembly and reassembly of the scissors/shears and lubrication when appropriate. (Sorry, no barber/beauty shear sharpening at this time)
GARDEN PRUNERS AND SHEARS
Keep Your Gardening Tools Sharp For Reduced Fatigue And Improved Plant Health
Similar to scissor sharpening garden tools require special skills and equipment. Care is taken to match to match the factory sharpening angle. The edges are polished to reduce drag. Rubbing surfaces are treated with Teflon dry lubricant.
